Dating a Sound Engineer

When we started dating the odds were against us as he was a Sound Engineer and I was a hostess at a club. Both our weekends were hardly ever our own and we would see make time for each other in the week when we had free time.

I was sceptic about starting a relationship I knew I hardly had time for, but I gave it a chance, we had a lot of ups and downs and meaningless fall outs but in the end we overcame every obstacle that life threw at us.

There are many pro's and con's in dating a Sound Engineer but the pro's out weigh the cons.

I get to go to events for free, and travel the country and go sightseeing while his working, I was able to visit Port Alfred, Jeffery's Bay a few times, Plettenberg Bay, and sometimes meet international Djs.

Of course it's hard been in a relationship with someone who's work schedule is forever changing and sometimes requires him to just pack up and go, but it's the spontaneity that always gets me to go with. Yes sometimes driving to venues that are far out that takes hours to get there can be tiring and sometimes I'm not in the mood to go but who else will drive with him, I prefer he doesn't drive home alone.

As I'm writing this post he is currently working on a setup in Jbay and I am sitting here writing and feeling very proud of him.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you date a sound Engineer you have to have a lot of patience which i have grown to have and Also with every second girl hitting on him you have to control that green monster inside of you as you are with him not them and not forgetting you have to be supportive and understanding especially when it comes to going with him to an event which is 1000 miles away from home or when it means you have to jump into your car and drop something off for him because he is to busy to do it himself.

How we keep our relationship strong and healthy?

We are always communicating with each other and we always set date night where it's just me and him however this industry is so demanding that his phone is constantly ringing that eventually you tell him to turn it off or take it away from him.

Now that it's season I also have to understand that his not always going to be home early and I'm probably going to be sleeping by the time he gets home but that doesn't mean I don't worry or support him, it just means i can no longer keep my eyes open and I fall asleep.

So before you ever consider dating a Sound Engineer you have to remember that you need to have all the above mentioned qualities else it's just not going to work. Like Jarryd likes to say "I appreciate and admire you more cause its not easy to date a Sound Engineer especially cause I take my frustrations out on you" My reply is always " I learnt how to take everything with a pinch of salt and as it comes"

True Blogger Style

As I sit in front of my screen procrastinating, I look to my right a desk stacked with catalogues and price lists just waiting to be checked and approved.

Buzzing in the background is my moms cooking (snoek and hot veg and my favorite of course a side salad), my baby brother watching Jurassic Park for the hundredth time and waiting for my boo and brother to come home from a long days work.

For the past couple of weeks I've given my blog a rest as I was busy working and traveling up to Jeffery's bay and back home in less than 3 days.

But my time spent in Jeffery's bay wasn't a complete waste it allowed me to refocus and to get back on the path I was on just a few months ago.

I remember starting my blog wasn't to be noticed by the fashion industry or even to  become a fashion or beauty blogger as recently most of my blog posts have been about. It was to take everyone through my journey of dealing with my Bipolar, Relationships and my work with NewKidz on The Block and just reality in general.   www.newkidz.org.za

I love following fashion blogs and beauty blogs, but that was never my passion, yes I will still write about my fashion ideas and what suits my body, because remember not everybody has the same body shop, what I think about everything fashion and beauty but I will not be focusing my blog on Fashion and Beauty.

I have noticed in these past couple of months, that most blogs have turned into advertising particular events. Going to events and then blogging about it after to boost the brand. Don't get me wrong a lot of the posts are interesting but a lot of the posts also show to people who are less fortunate than they are that they are showered with gifts from designers or fashion labels and most of us bloggers can afford to buy what we want. Yes the marketing strategy is right because thousands of people read the blog posts and like it or follow the particular blogger but how much of those thousands can afford to live in lap of luxury.

Yes, Many bloggers have worked their ass off to get where they are today and never had anything handed to them on silver platter. They are the ones I personally admire.

But I feel a lot of blogs have turned into an advertising campaign that gets written for free, if you give them a freebee.

I believe in working hard for what I want and I believe if I want to go to high Society events, If I get a free ticket then I'm Lucky but if not I will pay for what I want as that is how i was brought up, "not to expect anything for free".

So what inspired me to call this post true blogger style?? well because this is what true bloggers use to write about, they use to write about their hard times, stuff that just popped to mind they would find a reason to blog about it and now it just seems like they all sheep.

From now on I am going to be true to myself and my blog and I am going to continue writing about my Bipolar and how frustrating it is to live with us sometimes but also how passionate we get about something that truly means something to us.

I have found someone who understands me and my Bipolar and even though we argue and sometimes ends up me almost being in tears(my bipolar) he understands when it's one of those days(Women's Monthly's times that by 100). He will always be that person that I turn back to and realize that my world is perfect and I couldn't ask for anything else. He encouraged me on my new business venture and he has stood by me through my ups and downs. I guess this section is a token of appreciation to him as I'm not really a person who can show my true feelings.

My mom has also helped a lot by encouraging me to continue my blog and encouraging me that if my message at least helps one person it helped someone who never would've gotten that help.

I would also like to thank everyone who continues to support me, even though sometimes I just write crap and babble, you guys are the ones that keep this blog alive.

Also to everyone who reads this post this is a bit of my advertising, Please follow the following facebook pages:

Food Fendi: Woolworths Cafe

Jarryd decided to treat me to breakfast on Saturday morning as a little belated Anniversary Present.

Wow 7 months with the most amazing guy in my life.

We dressed up as it was a surprise breakfast and I felt like wearing a Track pants as that is one of my must have items.

We had to walk ourselves to our table because it was so busy and I guess. The Ambiance and smell of fresh strong coffee lingered in the atmosphere and right there and that was exactly when I feel in love with Woolworths Cafe.

The Organic and natural atmosphere was so inviting, the kids laughing and little whispers everyone had among themselves made my breakfast even more special. From husband and wife, granny and grand kids to the whole family breakfast showed that woolworths Cafe is definitely for all ages.

Our Waiter arrived to ask us what we would like to order and i opted for a burger with extra cheese and I chose the omelette with Oven Roasted Tamoto and matured Cheddar cheese.

With the Atmosphere and quality of food, WOOLWORTHS has worked it's way to my heart and my top ten list of places to eat at.

Bill: R150
Atmosphere and Layout: *****
Service: ****
Menu: ****

There is one thing I would like to have then change about there menu though, is to add a completely Halaal and kosher menu to the existing menu.

Jt One Pop Up Store V&A Waterfront

Woolworths just launched their JT one pop up store in waterfront, and even though I was not invited to attend, it did not bother me as I got to shop till I dropped in a relatively empty shop with far less people then was at the launch.

The JT one pop up store will be open for 3 months and i will definitely be having fun in that store.

Even though I'm a La senza girl, I have always had a soft spot for JT one.

I left the shop paying only +-R700 and believe me as my boyfriend would think that was a lot of money to me it was money well invested.

I walked away with new summer pj's

What my shopping bag included:
polka dot cotton shorts R120

Coral Playsuit R170

the original Jt vests R99.95

2 bra's and 3 hotpants

So why put this all on my blog? because I want all you beautiful people to know about the specials they are having like "buy 3 and only pay for 2".

For the first time I can also be very happy that i can wear Jt one bra's and its sexy and playful, with all the pretty colours and even lace for people with big boobs like mine.

I can never find my actual size that makes me feel like a woman and sexy and not like I'm stealing my grannies bra's.

Thank You Jt one for finally having bigger size bra's that are sexy, fashionable and bright.

Till next time...

I've been nominated for the Liebster blog award

My Birthday Wish List

As my 22nd birthday slowly approaches, I start thinking to myself what do I have to be thankful for and how I have grown into a women.

Every year that goes by I like to reflect on the year before my birthday. Yes my birthday is only in January and no I am not running out of topics to talk about.

This year started off with bang as I met Infected Mushroom and Skazi at The One World Festival.

Then came my birthday, with so many thanks and praises to my mom and friends for been there for me through thick and thin. Who have been there for me when my granny passed away, when I was diagnosed with Bipolar and when I never knew where i was going with my life.

This year has been a roller coaster for me, dealing with going back to college and studying, starting by blog, coming out about having Bipolar and finding out that my aunt's cancer has taken a turn for the worst and then finding out my legend is coming to Cape Town.

lets start with meeting the guy of my dreams I met Jarryd Bont one night at Side Show and fell head over heels for him. together for almost 7 months and already i know his the guy I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.

Then came the deferring my course till further notice.

I have always wanted to start my own business and when opportunity arrived i took a leap of faith and went to register my business. Yes I said it I am now a proud owner of my own company.

you can visit my website: www.houseofcraft.co.za

My online store will be launched by the 1st December and I am so excited to finally start selling.

This project has taken a lot of time, hard work, tears and sweat. and i really hope that everyone will enjoy it as much as I have while designing and working on the concept.

So back to the actual topic, My Birthday Wish list:

1. A pair of Jimmy Choo heels
2. An Iphone 5s
3. New lingerie
4. That everyone I love and who is alive can share my special day.

My birthday is the 11th January and everyone can start saving money!!

Yes, we got our Eminem tickets which is one of my birthday presents and cannot believe I going to see my Idol Live in action.

till next time...

Eminem

After hearing the news that my hero is setting his feet in the mother city, I had to get my hands on a ticket.

Four as long as I can remember I have been listening to Eminem, My brother used to decorate our room walls with Eminem posters and we had a stack of Eminem cd's just stacked in a row. My brother who is now 30 has been listening to Eminem since 1999 and that time I was spice girls and Britney Spears crazy. Until I couldn't find any of my cd's in the car while out with mom and I found the cd of Eminem and played it, to my surprise I loved it and my love for Eminem grew stronger.

My brother started drilling the lyrics in my brain at just 10 years old. I slowly continued to flow Eminem and started listening to his underground music as well.

I have all of his Albums:

The Slim Shady Lp
The Marshall Mathers Lp
The Enimen Show
Encore
Relapse
Recovery
The Marshall Mathers Lp2

I have all his concerts:

Anger Management Tour
The Home & Home Tour
Lose Yourself Tour
The Recovery Tour
Up In smoke Tour

we own 8 mile The movie that came out in 2002 and received an Academy award for the best original song which made Eminem the first rapper ever win that award.

And Eminem's autobiography. which I only dream he would one day autograph.

Eminem is a 13 time grammy and oscar winner, he has sold over 86 million albums, scanned 120 singles and 2.5 billion online views. The King of Hip Hop.

So why write this post? Because I have been trending for over a year on facebook and twitter and even instagram that Eminem should come to Cape Town. I have spoken to event companies and told them that Eminem would be the best thing this Country would ever see.

I mean Eminem is in a league of his own. His Artist of the decade and his a living legend. His music is so deep and its not about how much bitches he can get, or about how much money he makes. His Lyrics are personal.

Till today I remain a true Eminem Fan.

So when people start talking and saying I don't know any of his songs or own any of his albums, I will laugh it off.

I always told my mom I will never pay for concert until Eminem comes down to South Africa and that's exactly what I did.

So the next post about Eminem will be after the Rapture Tour.
I got my tickets and Im starting prep my clothes as I'm designing and making it myself.

P.S Thank You Showtime Management for finally bringing Eminem to Cape Town. You have made mine and my brothers dream come true.

October Fest

October is one of my favorite months of the year. Because it's just one month closer to Thanks Giving, Christmas, New Years and my birthday. My cousin Fatima left for America to start her Aupair in America program and we went to see her off. She's in Washington Dc and I can't wait till she's there long enough that we can visit her.

At the Airport Mugg and Bean before her next chapter began.

My moms birthday is on the 30 and she turned 48 which which means my mom is just 27 years older then me and 18 years older than my brother. Kind of cool having a mom who is young and energetic. My mom went for simple this year as she has a lot on her plate at the moment but she took time out of her day to go collect mine and Jarryd's Halloween costume for the Shimmy Beach Club Halloween Party.

My Role Model, my Inspiration, my best friend, My Mom Fatima Abrahams

On Halloween we went to Shimmy Beach Club, I still wish we could be as crazy and fun as a America for Halloween and go truck or treating and people actually dress up and not only wear the ears etc.

We went with friends and enjoyed ourselves but it was still missing that true American costume and fun.

Even though Shimmy wasn't what we expected, it was fun because we were with fun, entertaining people.

Rita devil, Avatar and myself a sailor

The Captain of my Ship and his Sailor

           The Devil and The Sailor

We hired our costumes from Theaterland in Plumstead and make up was done by Rita Chang.

Review: Aldo Shoes

The Aldo Group (corporately styled "ALDO") is a private Canadian corporation that owns and operates a worldwide chain of shoe and accessory stores. The company was founded by Aldo Bensadoun in MontrealQuebec, in 1972, where its corporate headquarters remain today. It has grown to become a worldwide corporation, with nearly 1,600 stores under four retail banners: Aldo, Call It Spring/Spring, Little Burgundy and Globo. Stores in Canada, the US, the UK, and Ireland are owned by the Group, while international stores are franchised. The company once operated the now closed or re-branded banners Simard & Voyer, Christian Shoes, Access, Pegabo, Transit, Stoneridge, Locale, Feetfirst and FIRST (which was the American version of Feetfirst). On March 13, 2012, the Aldo Group signed on with Madonna to produce the Truth or Dare by Madonna fashion line. This footwear was launched in August 2012, at Macy'sNordstrom, Selfridges, ASOS.com, The Bay, Little Burgundy and Capezio.(Adapted from Wikipedia)

I personally own about 10 pairs and the collection is still growing. Aldo is not only evolving with the times but also their prices are not to steep either.

If you going for seasonal fashion and your budget doesn't meet Aldo's prices then I suggest you shop somewhere more affordable but if you going for something that is timeless then Aldo is definitely the store for you.

Their customer service is impeccable and their employees make it an effort to get to know you and your style.

 This seasons must have..

Another on of this seasons must haves
